How to Get Your Notion Integration Secret for MCP

To connect Notion, you need to create an Internal Integration and get its secret token. This allows YouWare’s MCP to access your selected pages via the Notion API.

Set Up Integration in Notion

Go to the Notion Integrations page and click + New Integration.Configure the following settings:
  • Name: Give it a name like YouWare MCP
  • Workspace: Select the workspace you want to connect
  • Type: Choose Internal Integration

Copy Integration Secret

On the settings page for your new YouWare MCP integration, find the Internal Integration Secret and click the Copy button. This is the secret key you will use in YouWare.
Keep this secret secure. It provides access to your Notion content and should never be shared publicly.

Connect Content to Integration

For YouWare to access a specific page or database, you must explicitly connect it to your new integration.
  1. Go to the Notion page or database you want to use
  2. Click the three dots (…) menu in the top right
  3. Select Add connections (or Add people, emails, groups, or integrations)
  4. Search for and select your YouWare MCP integration
Once connected, YouWare can now access this page or database through the Notion API.

Optional: Configure Integration Permissions

By default, the integration has full read/write access. For security, you can go to the integration settings and configure fine-tuned permission scopes (e.g., only “Read content” access) to limit what the LLM can do with your data.
We recommend granting read-only access for most content-generation use cases.
